Summary
Atlas Memoir is designed to turn the location and date metadata in photos you choose into a private life map. Photo analysis, clustering, and city matching happen on your device. We do not collect personal data, require an account, or upload your photos and videos to our servers.
Photo library access
Atlas Memoir accesses only the photos you authorize through Apple's system photo picker and permission controls. It reads metadata needed to create your journey, such as capture date and location, and may display photo thumbnails and full images inside the app. Your photos and videos are not uploaded by Atlas Memoir.
Location and city matching
The app groups nearby photo locations and matches them against an offline city database stored in the app. The app does not request continuous device location access to build your journey.
Apple Maps
When you open a map, Apple Maps may load map tiles and related services under Apple's own privacy terms. Atlas Memoir does not receive or store personal data from Apple Maps.
Data collection and tracking
Atlas Memoir does not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, contact information, precise location history, photos, or other personal data. It does not track you across apps or websites and does not sell personal data.
Local data and deletion
Generated cities, visits, and settings are stored locally on your device. You can reset this journey in the app or remove it by deleting the app. Resetting Atlas Memoir does not delete items from Apple Photos.
Children
Atlas Memoir is not directed at collecting information from children and, because it does not collect personal data, does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Third-party geographic data
Offline city data is derived from GeoNames, licensed under CC BY 4.0, and is filtered and converted for offline city matching. Country boundary data from Natural Earth is public domain.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the effective date above will be updated and the revised policy will be published here.
